Kwara govt. releases update on monthly environmental sanitation

The Kwara State government has declared that the monthly environmental sanitation will hold tomorrow (Saturday), ROYAL NEWS has gathered.

The two hours will be observed from 7am to 9am, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Okanlawon Taiwo.

He said: “Members of the public are hereby enjoined to fully participate in the sanitation exercise by cleaning their residential and business environments.

“Everybody is expected to stay at home to clean up their surroundings.The monitoring agencies will be on ground to monitor compliance and it will be strictly observed across all the 16 Local Government Areas in the State.”

The statement further said: “There will be no vehicular and human movement except those on essential services. Violators of Environmental Laws during the sanitation exercise would be tried and sanctioned by Mobile Courts stationed at designated points across the State.

“Waste management trucks will be on the street for waste collection and disposal to the the final dumpsite during the exercise in the Ilorin metropolis.”
