Kwara State has scheduled its monthly environmental sanitation exercise for Saturday, September 27, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the state Ministry of Environment announced.
In a press statement from the office of Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, residents were urged to participate fully by cleaning their homes, businesses, and immediate surroundings.
The statement, signed by the Ministry’s Press Secretary, Mrs. Shakirat Muritala, noted that both vehicular and pedestrian movements will be restricted during the exercise.
Wastes collected will be transported by government-provided trucks to approved disposal sites, continuing the community-based waste management strategy introduced in previous exercises.
Authorities warned that dumping refuse on roads, pedestrian walkways, drains, canals, or other unapproved locations is an offence punishable by law.
The Ministry emphasized that residents should prioritize cleanliness, reminding the public that “cleanliness is next to godliness.”
