L-PRES Takes Sensitization To Kwara South, Warns Livestock Farmers
The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Coordinating Office, has advised livestock farmers in the Kwara South Senatorial District to leverage the programme to improve livestock businesses in the area.
The L-PRES Coordinating Office gave the advice at Omu-Aran, Ijagbo and Oro-Ago, during the sensitization exercise of the project in the Kwara South Senatorial District of the State.
The sensitization exercise is part of the move to ensure that all livestock farmers and stakeholders in its value chains across the three Senatorial Districts were fully captured in the ongoing beneficiaries’ profiling and exercise in the state.
The State Project Coordinator (SPC), Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye made the submissions during a stakeholder engagement in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area of the State.
Stressing the importance of profiling and mapping of potential beneficiaries, the Coordinator said there was the need for proper profiling for efficient plan and implementation of the project in the state.
Mr. Oyawoye explained further that when the project finally kicks-off, it would upgrade the existing facilities in the livestock sector of the state and construct more infrastructures, with a view to creating an enabling environment for effective service delivery, increase performance of value chain operators, as well as forestall any potential conflicts in the sector.
He added that the project’s priority is targeted at the low income earners in livestock sector by creating windows of opportunities for access to finance, capacity building, extension services, infrastructures, veterinary services, market linkage, and other sundry services for improved performance of the sector.
In his remarks, the Onijagbo of Ijagbo, Oba Buhari Adeniyi thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for implementing projects that have direct positive impacts on the lives of the people, and assured the state government of the cooperation of the good people of his community.
Similarly, the Oloro of Oro-Ago Kingdom, Oba Johnson Dada also lauded the government’s efforts towards reducing poverty by creating job opportunities for the teeming youths in the country.
In their contributions, some of the stakeholders present at the meeting, commended the collaborative efforts of the World Bank, Federal Government and the Kwara State Government for the well thought-out programme capable of improving the livelihood of the people in livestock business.
The team also visited the livestock farmers in Omu-Aran, the Headquarters of Irepodun Local Government, some Hausa/Fulani settlements in Bolorunduro, and Oro-Ago Communities in Oyun and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of the State, to sensitize them about the project and seek their support on its implementation.
