Lade Commends FMWRS For Bringing Workshop To Kwara

Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade has applauded the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Abuja, for bringing the second phase of training workshop to the state to reposition the water sector.

The Commissioner stated this during the training workshop organized at the conference room of the Ministry.

Hon. Lade said that the state government will key into the current mission and vision of improving the water sector in the state.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Christiana Omolola Asonibare appreciated the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Abuja, for the support and collaboration with the Ministry.

Earlier, the Project Consultant from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja, Dr. Linda Akpami, said that the purpose of the training is to allow the state key into the vision of providing abundant potable water supply to the people by applying the modern techniques of water treatment by the World Health Organization, (WHO).

She said that the programme is meant to provide a drinkable water supply to the teeming population of Kwara State in both the urban and semi-urban settlements.

Akpami briefed the management of the ministry extensively on how best technology can be employed to improve the water sector nationwide.

She further advised the Ministry’s management and its agencies to strategize on how to reticulate more areas to increase the number of customers to improve revenue generation in the sector.

Also speaking at the event, an international expert on Water Sector Development from Abuja, Dr. Jesse OJobor said that the master plan is a road map to move the organization forward and set a time frame to achieve certain desirable objectives.

OJobor said that the challenges militating against the State Water Corporation shall critically be examined to arrive at the desired solutions.

Making his contribution at the event, the Procurement Officer of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja, Engr. Nofia Kazeem said that the second phase of the training workshop is to help bring new development to the water sector.

The Secretary and Acting General Manager of the Kwara State Water Corporation, Alhaja Abdulhameed Raliat Sala commended the consultant for the support and initiatives that will enhance development in the water sector in the State.
