The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has described the death of the Soun of Ogbomoso land, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, as a colossal loss to humanity.
The monarch died at the early hours of Sunday at the age of 95.
In a condolence message signed on Sunday by his Spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir expressed sadness over the demise of the frontline traditional ruler, stressing that “Oba Oyewumi Ajagungbade III was a bridge builder and detrabilised Nigerian.”
According to Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, “The reign of His Royal Majesty, Soun Oyewumi witnessed tremendous peace, growth, development and positive projections for the inhabitants of Ogbomoso land and Oyo state citizens in general.
“I hereby commiserate with the immediate family of the monarch, Soun-In-Council, people of Ogbomoso land home and abroad, Oyo State Council of Chiefs, government and good people of Oyo state over the great loss.
“His demise is indeed a glorious end of another era and humanity shall not forget Soun Ajagungbade III in a hurry because history shall continue to be kind to him. May God repose his soul and give the entire families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.”
