LG chairman remanded in prison custody over alleged murder

The chairman of Batagarawa local government area in Katsina state, Alhaji Bala Garba Tsanni, has been remanded in prison over alleged conspiracy, abduction and murder.

The chairman and 11 others were arraigned before a Magistrate Court 3 sitting in the state under section 59, 249 and 189 of the Katsina penal code law, accused of murder of the village head of Dabaibayawa, Alhaji Dikko Ahmed

Earlier, Magistrate Abdulkarim A. Umar had directed the police to produce in court the accused persons on the 25th of January, 2024.

The other 11 accused persons had been in prison custody for the past six months while the chairman was under police care throughout the period.

Producing the accused before the court Thursday the police said they had concluded investigation on the matter.

This however led the Chief Magistrate to order for his remand in prison custody till the 7th of Match 2024 when the case would come up for hearing.
