The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to bridging the housing gap across the state through the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Mass Housing Scheme, with recent land inspections and consultations in Kaiama and Baruten Local Government Areas.
As part of the ongoing initiative to site 100 housing units in every local government area nationwide, the Kwara State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, led a delegation to inspect land allocated for the housing project in both Kaiama and Baruten. He was joined by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Alhaja Risikat Abdulazeez, and officials from the Kwara State Geographical Information Service (KWSGIS).
During a visit to the palace of the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar, Dr. Ogunsola conveyed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s appreciation for the community’s support. He emphasized that the state government’s collaboration with the federal government aims to alleviate the housing shortage and fulfill the governor’s development promises.
“The Renewed Hope Housing Project will significantly impact the lives of our people and open up rural areas to infrastructure and economic opportunities,” Ogunsola said. He also appealed for continued community support for the AbdulRazaq administration.
Responding on behalf of the Emir, Waziri Kaiama, Alhaji Adamu Gene, applauded Governor AbdulRazaq’s efforts to transform the state. He assured the commissioner of Kaiama’s continued cooperation in support of development projects.
In Baruten, the Commissioner was warmly received by the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar, who also expressed gratitude for the siting of the housing project in his domain. He noted that the initiative would complement the recently completed Kwara State University campus in Ilesha-Baruba and enhance local development.
“We are open to any programme that will improve the well-being of our people,” the Emir said, pledging the community’s full support for government initiatives.
The consultation and land assessment exercise will continue across the state, with upcoming visits to Babanloma in Ifelodun, and to Patigi and Lafiagi in Patigi and Edu Local Government Areas.
