Real Madrid reclaimed the top spot in the LaLiga table on Sunday with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
The match took a dramatic turn late on when Getafe substitute Allan Nyom was shown a red card less than a minute after coming onto the pitch. Real Madrid quickly capitalized on the numerical advantage, as Kylian Mbappe broke free to score the decisive goal — his 50th strike of 2025 for club and country.
Getafe’s woes deepened when Álex Sancris received a second yellow card in the 84th minute, reducing the home side to nine men. Despite the setback, Getafe nearly salvaged a point in stoppage time, but Thibaut Courtois produced a crucial save to secure all three points for Los Blancos.
The win lifts Real Madrid to 24 points, two ahead of archrivals Barcelona, whom they will face in a much-anticipated El Clásico clash next Sunday.
