A mob in the Agunbiade area of Somolu, Lagos State, reportedly assaulted a physically challenged man on Thursday over allegations that he used diabolical means to steal another man’s manhood. The victim’s identity had not been confirmed as of press time.
The incident occurred just days after a National Union of Road Transport Workers member, Samsideen Oladiti, also known as Shamelon, allegedly assaulted a tricyclist to death in Lagos Island. Witnesses said the latest drama unfolded when a man raised the alarm, claiming his manhood disappeared after picking up a cash note allegedly dropped by the disabled suspect.
Eyewitnesses told PUNCH Metro that the alarm attracted a crowd, who pounced on the suspect, beating him while demanding he restore the manhood. Photographs from the scene showed the crippled man bloodied and injured from the mob attack.
The suspect was alleged to have admitted to using the money for the diabolical act and reportedly promised to restore the manhood if allowed to go elsewhere. He allegedly claimed the money had been laced with charms.
Police officers from the Onipanu Division later arrived at the scene to calm tensions. An eyewitness, Gbenga, said the alleged victim later declared that his manhood had been restored after the police intervened.
When contacted on Sunday, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said she would respond to inquiries but had not done so at the time of filing this report. Similar claims of missing manhood have been reported in other states, though many are often dismissed as unfounded after police investigations.
