Nasarawa Rep Nalaraba Drops Governorship Ambition, Backs Wadada, Eyes Senate Seat

Date:

The lawmaker representing Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abubakar Nalaraba, has withdrawn from the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship race and declared support for Senator Ahmed Wadada as the preferred aspirant of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Nalaraba had earlier expressed interest in contesting the governorship under the platform of the All Progressives Congress but said his decision to step down followed wide consultations with stakeholders, party leaders, and community elders.

He explained that his withdrawal was not due to weakness or lack of capacity but was driven by political maturity, loyalty, and commitment to party unity and stability in Nasarawa State.

According to him, he fully aligns with the position of Governor Abdullahi Sule, who has endorsed Senator Ahmed Wadada as his preferred governorship candidate.

Nalaraba pledged to mobilise his political structure in support of Wadada’s ambition ahead of the primaries and general election, describing the move as a sacrifice for collective progress.

In a significant political shift, the lawmaker also announced that he has obtained nomination forms to contest the Nasarawa South Senatorial District seat, saying the decision was influenced by calls from constituents and stakeholders across the zone.

He stated that his new ambition reflects his continued commitment to legislative service and representing the interests of his people at a higher level.

While acknowledging the challenges ahead, Nalaraba expressed confidence that he and his supporters would work together to secure victory in the 2027 senatorial election.
