Newcastle United have increased their offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, aiming to beat rivals Manchester United to the sought-after Slovenian forward.
According to Sky Germany, the Magpies have submitted a revised bid worth £69.7 million (€80 million) in fixed fees, with additional performance-based add-ons.
This new bid surpasses Newcastle’s initial offer of £65.3 million (€75 million) plus €5 million in bonuses.
Eddie Howe’s side is keen to secure a top-class striker following Callum Wilson’s departure at the end of his contract. Uncertainty also surrounds the future of Alexander Isak, who has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool. The Premier League champions have already seen one bid for the Swedish international rejected.
Manchester United remain firmly in the race for Sesko and have held talks with RB Leipzig over potential deal terms. The 21-year-old striker has yet to make a final decision on his next destination, after an earlier proposed move to Arsenal collapsed earlier this summer.
Sesko’s final choice could reshape the attacking options of whichever Premier League giant wins the race.
