The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has condemned the recent terrorist attack on communities in Borgu Local Government Area of the state, describing it as “sad, painful and unacceptable.”
The attack, which occurred at Kasuwan Daji Market in Sukumbara village, reportedly claimed the lives of more than 30 people, while several others, including children, were abducted.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Sarkin-Daji expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the victims, the Borgu Emirate Council and the people of Niger State. He noted that those affected included both Muslims and Christians from different communities, stressing that the violence undermines peace, unity and coexistence.
The Speaker assured residents that the state government, working with the Federal Government and security agencies, has intensified efforts to rescue those abducted and bring the perpetrators to justice. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Sarkin-Daji also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack and urged residents of Niger State to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at combating terrorism and other forms of criminality.
