Buhari Left a Legacy of Modesty, Principled Leadership – Prof. Alkali
Former Political Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, has paid glowing tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a man of “resilience, modesty, and principled leadership.”
In a heartfelt condolence message issued on Monday, Prof. Alkali expressed deep sorrow over Buhari’s passing, noting that the former president served Nigeria with unwavering commitment and courage across multiple chapters of the nation’s history.
“President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria with unwavering commitment, courage, and a deep sense of patriotism across different eras of our national journey,” he said.
Prof. Alkali praised Buhari’s leadership style, highlighting his fierce dedication to discipline, national integrity, and anti-corruption. He emphasized that these values will remain etched in Nigeria’s history and continue to serve as a source of inspiration for future generations.
“His legacy will remain etched in the annals of our nation’s history. This is indeed a moment of national mourning and sober reflection, as we remember a man who gave his all in the service of our dear country.”
Offering his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Government and People of Nigeria, and the Buhari family, Alkali specifically recognized Mrs. Aishatu Muhammadu Buhari, praying for strength and peace in this period of national grief.
“Nigeria has lost a leader, a patriot, and a symbol of national conscience. I pray Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings and grants him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus,” he added.
The professor described Buhari as one of Nigeria’s most iconic leaders whose modesty, resilience, and principled approach to governance defined his time in office, both as a military and civilian leader.
