The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a 100 per cent increase in the cost of Nigerian Standard Passports, effective September 1, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the hike is intended to preserve the quality and integrity of the travel document.
Under the revised rates, passport applications within Nigeria will now cost ₦100,000 for a 32-page booklet with five-year validity, and ₦200,000 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity.
Meanwhile, fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page passport (five years) and $230 for the 64-page passport (10 years).
This marks the second increase in one year. In August 2024, the Federal Government had approved new rates, raising the 32-page passport from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000 and the 64-page passport from ₦70,000 to ₦100,000.
The Service reiterated its commitment to balancing quality service delivery with accessibility for Nigerians at home and abroad.
