Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society Urges Akwa Ibom State to Sustain Engagement of Sector Professionals

Date:

The Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) has urged the Akwa Ibom State Government to sustain the engagement of professionals in the mining and geosciences sector to ensure that ongoing and future projects meet international standards.

The society made the call during an inspection visit to the Arise Palm Resort at the close of its 61st Annual Conference and Exhibition held in Uyo over the weekend.

NMGS also commended Governor Umo Eno for his administration’s commitment to diversifying the state’s economy through investments in tourism and other non-oil sectors, while encouraging stronger efforts toward harnessing solid mineral resources.

The society expressed confidence that sustained commitment to professional standards and strategic investment would position Akwa Ibom as a major destination for tourism and solid minerals development in Nigeria.

Speaking during the inspection tour, Assistant Chief Geologist in the Ministry of Works, Emaekop Eduok, described the Arise Palm Resort project as a forward-looking initiative that demonstrates how natural and environmental assets can be leveraged to support sustainable economic growth in the state.
