The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ilorin Branch, has announced the 3rd Engr. Yusuf Lanre Sagaya Annual Distinguished Lecture, scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Peace Hotel’s Hall, Tanke, Ilorin. The event, which will begin at 10:00 AM, will focus on the critical theme: “Addressing Food Security in Nigeria Through Digital Infrastructure: Prospects, Challenges, and Way Forward.”

The lecture will feature Engr. Dr. Umar Bindir, FNSE, as the Guest Speaker. Engr. Bindir is a former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Poverty Eradication, a former Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, and a past Director General of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP).

Also, delivering the Keynote Address will be Temi Kolawole, the ICT Advisor to the Kwara State Governor and the Managing Director of Ilorin Innovation Hub. His expertise in digital technology and innovation is expected to bring valuable insights into how digital infrastructure can enhance food security in Nigeria.

The event is being organized under the leadership of Engr. Prof. Y.A. Jimoh, FNSE, FAEng, as the Chairman of the Planning Committee, and Engr. S.O. Ashola, MNSE, as the Secretary of the Planning Committee.

Royal Fathers of the Day are Emir of Ilorin, HRH Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; Emir of Shonga, HRH Dr. Haliru Yahaya and Emir of Okuta, HRH Alhaji Idris Abubakar, Serobetete III.

This annual lecture series, named after Engr. Yusuf Lanre Sagaya, a distinguished engineer and statesman, aims to provide a platform for discussing key national issues, particularly those relating to engineering and technological development.
