The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the terrorism trial of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to October 16, 2025.
Justice James Omotosho adjourned the case after the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) failed to submit its report on Kanu’s health status as previously ordered. The judge had directed the NMA president to set up a medical board to assess Kanu’s condition and determine whether the Department of State Services (DSS) facility can adequately handle his treatment or if he should be transferred to the National Hospital, as requested by his legal team.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, DSS counsel Suraj S’aad, SAN, informed the court that the medical board’s report was not yet ready. He, therefore, requested a one-week adjournment to allow the NMA complete its findings.
Justice Omotosho granted the request and adjourned the case to October 16, 2025, for the submission of the medical report and to decide on the continuation of the trial.
