The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) served up a weekend of drama on Matchday 4, with Plateau United and newcomers Kun Khalifat both recording their first victories of the season, while Enyimba climbed to the summit of the table.
In Jos, Plateau United stunned early leaders Remo Stars with a 2–0 triumph. Tarabina Biweribo opened the scoring before Mafeng Pam sealed the result, ending Remo’s unbeaten start and lifting the Peace Boys off the bottom of the standings.
Kun Khalifat marked a historic milestone in Aba, securing their maiden NPFL victory. A brace from Ebuka Nwokorie and a goal from Onuorah Onyedika powered them to a 3–1 win over El Kanemi Warriors, who managed a consolation through Ebuka Okoro. The emphatic result sparked jubilant scenes among the home fans.
In Benin, Bendel Insurance continued their knack for late drama as substitute Israel Emmanuel netted deep into stoppage time to hand them a 1–0 win over Niger Tornadoes.
Defending champions Enyimba were the only side to win on the road, defeating Bayelsa United 2–0 thanks to strikes from Chidera Michael and Kalu Nweke. The result sent the People’s Elephant to the top of the table, strengthening their title credentials.
Elsewhere, Abia Warriors, Kano Pillars, and Nasarawa United secured slim victories, while Ikorodu City collected their first points of the campaign with a 2–0 win over Barau FC in Lagos.
In Warri, Wolves were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United, denying them the chance to climb into top spot.
League Standings
Enyimba lead the 2025/26 NPFL table with eight points from four matches, ahead of Rivers United on goal difference. Warri Wolves, Wikki Tourists, and Nasarawa United sit close behind on seven points, while Remo Stars drop to sixth.
At the lower end, Kun Khalifat, Kano Pillars, and Rangers International remain on four points each. Plateau United, despite their first win, stay in the drop zone on three points. Shooting Stars and Barau FC sit bottom with two points apiece.
