Nigerian Afrobeat artist Stanley Omah Didia, professionally known as Omah Lay, has declared himself the greatest musician of his generation.
In a post shared via his official X account, the Soso crooner acknowledged that he currently lacks evidence to support the claim but expressed confidence that time would vindicate him. “Hi guys! My name is Omah Lay and I am the greatest of my generation. I don’t have proofs right now but there will be a lot in the future. Thanks. Yours truly, Boy Alone,” he wrote.
This is not the first time the artist has voiced strong belief in his musical potential. In 2023, Omah Lay stated that he aimed to become a leading figure among the new wave of Afrobeats stars.
During an interview with The Beat FM in London last year, he revealed that he had developed a “new sound” he intends to push into the mainstream.
Omah Lay rose to prominence in 2020 with the release of his debut EP Get Layd, which included hit tracks like Bad Influence and Lo Lo. His music has since been marked by introspective lyrics and distinctive production.
The singer’s debut album, Boy Alone, was released in 2022 to critical acclaim, further cementing his place in the evolving Afrobeats scene.
Known for blending Afrobeats with elements of R&B and soul, Omah Lay has built a dedicated fan base both in Nigeria and internationally.
While some fans have welcomed his latest proclamation as a show of ambition, others on social media have questioned the boldness of the claim without tangible proof.
The singer has not responded to the mixed reactions following his statement.
