Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested a suspected high-profile criminal during an intelligence-led operation in Agasha Village in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State following an alleged attack on a resident.
The operation was carried out on March 13, 2026, after security agencies received credible information about an assault on Mr. Shaapera Seeta Michael in the community. Acting on the report, troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion XI, deployed under Operation Whirl Stroke, quickly mobilised to the area to track down the suspected attacker.
On arrival at the village, the troops cordoned off the area to prevent the suspect from escaping while conducting a targeted search operation to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the attack.
The suspect, identified as Suurnen David Akum, 27, a resident of Agasha Village in Guma Local Government Area, was arrested during the operation. Troops also recovered a locally fabricated rifle from him at the time of the arrest. He is currently under investigation before being handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
Reacting to the development, the Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and tactical execution, which led to the successful arrest. He urged them to sustain the momentum and remain vigilant in ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements freedom to operate within the area.
