Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East, has declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke faces serious political consequences following the defection of two senators and three members of the House of Representatives from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking during a media chat in Ilase-Ijesa on Sunday, Fadahunsi said the governor does not understand the implications of the lawmakers’ exit, warning that Adeleke’s actions will speak louder than his voice.
Fadahunsi dismissed claims by the Osun State Government that rented crowds filled Freedom Park during the defection event. He urged critics to “wait and see,” insisting that the political shift signals deeper problems within the ruling party in the state.
The senator accused the governor of poor leadership and alleged that Adeleke had failed to provide adequate support for security, claiming he had not purchased a single vehicle for security operations. He also criticised the administration as disorganised, alleging internal crises and selfish leadership within the party.
Fadahunsi further referenced past political disputes, including allegations made against him during the administration of former governor Rauf Aregbesola, maintaining that he had nothing to hide. He claimed he was once pressured to face legal action at the Federal High Court but insisted the accusations were baseless.
He concluded by stating that the defecting lawmakers were unfairly labelled as liabilities, arguing instead that their departure would expose weaknesses within the government. He added that the current administration must be held accountable for loans and other financial decisions taken while in office.
