PDP to Buhari: Continuous borrowing ‘ll inflict pains on Nigerians

People’s Democratic Party, PDP has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop all forms of borrowing from domestic and multi-lateral agencies, pointing out that continuous borrowings would inflict pain on Nigerians.

National chairman of PDP, Mr. Uche Secondus, who gave the advice in Abuja while briefing journalists after a meeting with the PDP caucus in the Senate, vowed that the party would reject further borrowing by the All Progressives Congress, APC-led federal government.

He said: “The People’s Democratic Party on behalf of the leadership of the party, we meet and tabled before the caucus of PDP in the Senate, the issue of electoral reforms.

“Which is foremost in our minds and in the minds of Nigerians and the issue of continuous borrowing by the federal government by the executive arm.

“If it continues like this Nigerians will be feeling pains of borrowing.

“And it will get a point if we continue to borrow the way the executive arm is going, it will be difficult to breath both politically and economically, so this must come to an end.”

On the preparations for Edo State governorship election, Secondus said that the PDP is preparing hard for the polls.

“Edo election preparations is ongoing, the processes have started, yesterday was the three man’s delegate election and on the June 19 is the congress proper.”

Earlier, chairman of the PDP caucus and Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, said the PDP senators had a very fruitful discussions with the leadership of the party.

He said: “The chairman, Uche Secondus has come to meet with the PDP caucus in the Senate and we have had a very useful discussion about the happenings in the National Assembly and our role in the Senate and in the National Assembly.

“And, I can say that it was a very productive meeting.”

When asked to comment on the issue of senators not being carried along by the party executives, Abaribe said: “all the matters that affects senators were all discussed and satisfactorily resolved.”

“And like I said, it is normal that there are disagreement between political parties and we can be very certain that these disagreements can easily be resolved when you understand each other and when you have meetings of this nature which we have done.

“What we are taken home is that the senators are very happy and we are on the same page with the party.

“PDP is strong and PDP is united,” Abaribe said.
