Pensioners’ Union Kicks Against PTAD, Threatens Street Protest

Date:

The Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria has threatened to mobilise a nationwide protest over the alleged failure of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate to remit check-off dues deducted from pensioners.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the union’s leadership called on Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Labour and Employment to urgently intervene, warning that the situation could escalate if left unresolved.

FEPPPAN accused PTAD of disregarding legal provisions that mandate the remittance of union dues to the appropriate body, noting that such obligations are clearly outlined under the Trade Unions Act.

The union said it had exhausted all avenues of dialogue, consultations, and administrative engagement with relevant authorities, but expressed frustration that its concerns had not been adequately addressed.

It warned that continued non-compliance could trigger lawful industrial action, stressing its readiness to deploy all democratic means to protect the rights and interests of its members nationwide.
