Princess Asmau Haruna AbdulKadir who hails from Kano has gotten married to Otunba of Iwoland,Chief Sikiru Abdulwahab Atanda.

Receiving the princess from the emissaries of Kano Emir in his palace on Saturday, Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, reiterated his commitment to a united Nigeria, saying inter-tribal marriage remains the most vibrant lubricator of national cultural integration and unity.

It could be recalled that Oluwo had earlier in May 2022 tied a nuptial knot with a Kano Princess,Firdaus Abdulllahi now Firdaus Akanbi.

Oluwo said a more united Nigeria is possible if traditional rulers, leaders and stakeholders lead by example by demonstrating high sense of love without sentiment. He described inter tribal marriage as necessary for national cultural integration.

“Inter tribal marriage will promote unity and strengthen national cultural integration in Nigeria. In Iwo, we are unique for many things mostly in hospitality and accommodation”

“Iwo has a unique history. We housed refugees whose sources were ravaged by war from many corners of Nigeria. It appears in Iwo eulogy till date as a town without doors and keys. We are building on that strength through inter tribal marriage ”

“Diversity is an advantage if properly tapped. We are tapping from Iwo. We are setting pace for a united Nigeria. I called myself Emir, I’ve equally called myself Igwe. That doesn’t change my position as Oluwo of Iwoland. I’m an Emir to Kano sons and daughters in Iwoland and Igwe to the Igbos. The motive is to promote unity in our diversity.”
