Police Arrest Two Suspects, Recover Stolen Toyota Camry in Akure

Date:

The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State have arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen Toyota Camry in Akure following an investigation into a reported vehicle theft.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the breakthrough followed a case involving conspiracy, stealing, and receiving stolen property reported on February 27, 2026, by one Adeyemi Robert.

According to the statement, the complainant said his Toyota Camry with registration number AH173WWD was stolen on February 14 after he parked it outside a social event venue on Sijuade Street in Akure.

Police detectives immediately launched an investigation, deploying intelligence gathering and other strategies to trace the vehicle and apprehend those responsible.

The command said operatives later tracked the vehicle to one Awolo Akingbade, 40, who was found in possession of the car and invited for questioning. Further investigation led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Adeyemi David, who allegedly stole the vehicle and sold it.

Police said the recovered vehicle has been secured as an exhibit, while both suspects provided useful information during the investigation.

According to the command, the suspects have since been charged in court following the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their diligence and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to combat crime.
