Police Clear Pastor Adefarasin in Viral Gun Video

Date:

The Lagos State Police Command has cleared the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, of allegations that he brandished a firearm in public.

A viral video circulated in June 2025 showed Adefarasin holding what appeared to be a handgun while driving in traffic, sparking speculation that he was pointing a weapon at the TikToker who filmed the clip. The cleric, however, denied the claim, insisting the object was not a firearm.

Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi said in a statement on Wednesday that a “thorough investigation” had been conducted. According to him, Adefarasin was interrogated and gave a cautionary statement during the inquiry.

“Findings revealed that the object seen in the viral footage was not a firearm but a stun gun, a non-lethal device,” Adebisi said. He added that the command found no sufficient grounds to pursue the case and has therefore discontinued it.
