The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspects, 40-year-old Naziru Sale and 36-year-old Hassan Adamu, for allegedly stealing gas used to power an Airtel telecommunications antenna in Burmanawa village, Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists. He said the suspects were arrested on October 5 at about 4:30 a.m. following credible intelligence.

According to Adam, the suspects were found with an unregistered dark-coloured Golf 2 Saloon car and 14 jerry cans suspected to have been used to siphon gas from the telecom facility. The duo have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation and will be charged to court upon completion of the probe.

In a separate operation, the command also arrested one Muiziddeen Mohd for allegedly trespassing and stealing 23 doors from an uncompleted building in Sabon Takur Quarters, Dutse. Police said 19 of the stolen doors were recovered near the suspect’s residence, where they were hidden on a farmland. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining four doors and apprehend other possible accomplices.

SP Adam reaffirmed the command’s commitment to enhancing community partnerships in the fight against crime across the state. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, also commended the divisional officers for their professionalism and dedication to duty.
