Veteran Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi has died in his sleep, with the Actors Guild of Nigeria confirming he passed away on Sunday in Abuja. His remains have been deposited in a mortuary as the family is expected to provide further details.
The death was confirmed by Actors Guild of Nigeria President Abubakar Yakubu, who said the actor slept and did not wake up, while the guild awaits more information on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Akiyesi, a native of Ososo in Edo State, began his acting career in the late 1990s and featured in over 100 Nollywood productions during a career spanning decades.
He was widely known for roles in films including Marry Who You Love, Kiss My Pain, Joy of Nakasha, Heart of a Saint and Desperate Ladies, earning recognition as a veteran figure in the Nigerian film industry.
Tributes have continued to pour in on social media following news of his death, as colleagues, fans and the broader Nollywood community mourn his passing.
