Real Racism lies with the authorities’ said Vincent Kompany

The former Manchester City Captain said the real racism lies with the authorities in football after Romelu Lukaku was subjected to Racist abuse in the Serie A match between Inter Milan and Cagliari which ended 2-1 in favour of Inter Milan on Sunday.

The Belgian forward scored a penalty in the 72nd minute for Inter Milan in the match, after which he was subjected to ‘monkey chants’. Although the Inter Milan fans claimed that the Cagliari fans don’t mean for the chants to be racist.

According to sky sports Vincent Kompany said

“It goes back to who is expected to make a decision on these issues, and it’s in these organisations that the problems lie.

“The real racism lies in the fact none of these institutions have representatives that can actually understand what Romelu (Lukaku) is going through.

“You are dealing with a crowd of people and decision-makers who are telling him how he should think and feel about this when you have no decision-makers who are remotely in touch with what he has experienced in his life.

“That’s the real issue, if you go through the boards at UEFA or FIFA, the Italian League or the English League there is a real lack of diversity

“If you don’t have diversity in places of power like boardrooms then you can’t have the right decisions in terms of sanctions – it’s a simple as that.”
