Sowore Meets Nnamdi Kanu at Abuja Court, Shares Emotional Moment(VIDEO)

Date:

Human rights activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Thursday met with detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Sowore shared a video of the meeting on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, showing the two men embracing and exchanging pleasantries within the court premises.

In the accompanying caption, Sowore wrote: “Finally, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and I met at the Federal High Court today. The man is powerful and unrelenting. We greeted and hugged and the bond is strong! #FreeNnamdiKanuNow.”

The encounter came days after Sowore led a #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Abuja, alongside Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and his brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu. The demonstration was dispersed by police, who arrested Ejimakor, Prince Emmanuel, and several others. They were later arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Kuje and remanded in custody.

Meanwhile, Kanu has opted to defend himself in his ongoing terrorism trial before Justice James Omotosho, following the withdrawal of his lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), and other members of his legal team.

Kanu has been in detention since 2021, after his arrest in Kenya and subsequent extradition to Nigeria.
