Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, Speaker, Nasarawa House of Assembly and the Emir of Nasarawa, Alhaji Usman Jibril on Friday mourned Suleiman Adamu, APC member, representing Nasarawa Central Constituency, who was laid to rest in Nasarawa.
Adamu died on April 30 at the age of 43, after a brief illness at the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC), Keffi.
The deceased left behind a wife and five children.
Abdullahi, who led few members of the state Legislature to the funeral prayers, described Adamu’s death as shocking and devastating because the assembly would miss his positive contributions.
According to him, Adamu was very humble and hardworking and he had contributed a lot to the development of his constituency and the state at large.
“We received the death of our colleague with great shock; it is painful, heart-breaking but God gives life and takes at will.
“Members of the State House of Assembly have lost a friend, a colleague and a brother.
“We pray that God should grant the entire family and the Nasarawa Emirate Council the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.
The Speaker prayed for the repose of the soul of the lawmaker and urged the family to see his death as an act of God.
“We prayed that Allah will forgive his sins and accept his soul into aljannah,” the speaker said.
The Emir of Nasarawa appreciated the Speaker and other lawmakers for the show of concern and prayed God to bless them abundantly.
Earlier, Mallam Yahaya Ahmed, the Deputy Chief Imam of Nasarawa Central Mosque, who presided over the funeral prayers, urged politicians and other Nigerians to live lives worthy of emulation while on earth.
He said that death was inevitable and prayed for the repose of the soul of the decease.
Also in attendance, was the former speaker of the state Assembly, Musa Ahmed Mohammed, whom the deceased served as Personal Assistant and a House of Representative member, Abdulmumini Ari (APC-Nasarawa/Toto).
