Three ‘Shilla Boys’ Arrested for Robbery in Adamawa

Date:

Three youths suspected to be members of the criminal gang popularly known as Shilla Boys have been arrested in Adamawa State for alleged involvement in robbery-related offences.

The Adamawa State Police Command said the suspects were apprehended through a joint operation involving police operatives and members of the local community under the command’s Community Policing Initiative.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were arrested for alleged armed robbery, housebreaking and theft.

Nguroje identified the suspects as Auwal Inusa, Huzaifa Ahmed and Lukman Abdullahi, all aged 19 and residents of Nassarawo Ward, Yola North Local Government Area.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested in the early hours of January 5, 2026, at about 3:00 a.m., after they allegedly armed themselves with offensive weapons, including cutlasses, daggers and knives, and broke into a house in the Nassarawo area, dispossessing occupants of their valuables.

“Members of the community intercepted and arrested three out of the four suspects, while one managed to escape,” Nguroje said.

Items recovered from the suspects include two mobile phones, a power bank, one cutlass and two knives.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris, commended members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation, urging residents to sustain collaboration with the police by promptly reporting suspicious activities.

Nguroje added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
