Tinubu Backs Ribadu, Vows Nigeria Will Overcome Terrorism

Date:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday expressed strong confidence in the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, saying his boldness and integrity would help Nigeria defeat bandits and terrorists. Speaking in Yola during a one-day official visit to Adamawa State, the president praised Ribadu as “honest, courageous and committed,” adding that visible results were already being recorded in the fight against insecurity.

During the visit, Tinubu commissioned several projects executed by Governor Ahmadu Umar Fintiri and commended him for prudent use of increased federal allocations. The projects include a model school, major road expansions with an underpass and overhead bridge, a remodelled State High Court Complex, and a new Government House office complex. The president said such investments reflect true governance focused on improving citizens’ livelihoods.

Tinubu reiterated that his administration would sustain economic reforms aimed at strengthening macroeconomic stability, boosting agriculture, and investing in human capital development. He noted that the reforms have enabled higher allocations to states, facilitating infrastructure growth in education, health, and commerce across the country. He also urged governors to prioritise poverty reduction and educational development.

The president thanked traditional and religious leaders in Adamawa for maintaining peace and unity, acknowledging the challenges posed by economic reforms and political dynamics. He emphasised the importance of collaboration between the federal and state governments in driving national development.

In his remarks, Governor Fintiri appreciated the president’s visit and support, detailing the costs of the commissioned projects, including N24.8 billion for 21 model schools and billions more for road and judicial infrastructure. Five governors — including those of Taraba, Borno, Plateau, Gombe and Yobe — alongside ministers and top officials, attended the event in solidarity.
