Senate approves 20 Special Advisers for Tinubu
By Olugbenga Salami
Senate on Tuesday approved the request of President Bola Tinubu to appoint 20 Special Advisers.
The approval was sequel to a letter to that effect, which was addressed to the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan and read on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.
President Tinubu, however, did not attach names to the request of approval for the 20 Special Advisers.
But after the president’s letter was read, the upper legislative chamber gave speedy approval of the request.
Commenting on the request, Lawan said it is of “utmost urgency” that the president has his team to work with.
“Because there is no name for Special Advisers we will just approve it from here. We feel that that this is something of utmost urgency,” the Senate President said.
The development came days after Tinubu announced the appointment of immediate past Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume as the Secretary to Government of the Federation, SGF; outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila
as his Chief of Staff, and former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia as the Deputy Chief of Staff.
