Trump Hints at Future Action on Cuba After Iran War

Date:

U.S. President Donald Trump has signalled that Washington may turn its focus to Cuba after concluding military operations against Iran, suggesting it is only a matter of time before new measures are pursued.

Speaking at a White House reception, Trump said attention would first remain on the ongoing conflict with Iran but implied that developments concerning Cuba would follow later.

Addressing U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump praised his work on Cuba and referenced efforts related to the island nation, which is already facing an energy blockade and severe fuel shortages.

The U.S. has restricted fuel supplies to Cuba following broader geopolitical tensions and the impact of sanctions linked to regional developments, including actions affecting Venezuela — a key oil supplier to Havana.

Cuba has experienced mounting economic pressure, with fuel imports reportedly halted since January 9, disrupting transport and deepening concerns that further U.S. policy shifts could intensify the crisis.
