Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has ridiculed opposition parties over their reliance on social media, declaring that elections are not won online but through grassroots mobilisation.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting on Monday, following the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in two state constituencies and one federal constituency in Saturday’s bye-elections, the governor said social media propaganda could never replace real political strategy.
“There is no ballot box on Twitter. There is no ballot box on Instagram or Facebook. Elections are won at the grassroots, not on social media,” Sani stated.
He accused opposition parties of wasting energy on “Twitter (X) battles and Facebook noise,” while praising the APC’s focus on inclusivity and people-driven policies, which he said secured its win at the polls.
Governor Sani urged politicians to focus on governance and grassroots engagement rather than chasing online popularity.
