
An Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday remanded two men, Victor Otache, 30, and Wisdom Habeeb Abudu, 22, for allegedly stealing food items valued at N2.5 million.
The defendants, facing two counts of conspiracy and theft, were arraigned before Magistrate Folashade Hughes.
Police prosecutor Inspector Philomena Nnaji told the court that the men allegedly stole rice, beans, palm oil, dressed chicken, fruits, garri, and other food items belonging to Abundish Limited in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. She stated that the offences occurred between April and September 14, 2025, at 15B Wole Olateju Crescent, Lekki.
According to Nnaji, the acts contravened Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The defence counsel, B. N. Nwaigwa, requested that bail be granted on liberal terms. Consequently, Magistrate Hughes granted each defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with sureties in like sum, but ordered that they remain in Ikoyi Prisons until the bail conditions are perfected.
The case was adjourned until October 14, 2025, for further hearing.
