Libyan authorities have arrested two Nigerians for possession of substances suspected to be hard drugs.

According to a post on X by Migrant Rescue Watch on Sunday, the substances were identified as hashish and hallucinogenic pills. The drugs were reportedly in commercial quantities and ready for distribution at the time of arrest.

The post stated, “CID in Zliten arrested two undocumented migrants of Nigerian nationality on charges of drug trafficking. The individuals were found in possession of quantities of hashish and hallucinogenic pills ready for distribution.”

The suspects have been handed over to the appropriate legal authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution. Both individuals were referred to the Anti-Narcotics Agency for legal action.

This incident is not the first time Nigerians have been arrested in Libya for drug-related offenses.
