The University of Ilorin will honour 65 prominent individuals—64 of them alumni—at a landmark investiture ceremony on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, as part of events marking its 50th anniversary.
The event, titled Investiture Ceremony of UNILORIN Ambassadors, Distinguished Alumni, and Award of Excellence, will take place at the university auditorium beginning at 11:00 a.m.
According to a statement from the Chairman of the Awards Planning Committee, Prof. AbdulRasheed A. Adeoye, the ceremony is designed to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth, image, and development of the institution and have excelled in their various fields.
Among the honorees are the Registrar of JAMB and former UNILORIN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emeritus Is’haq Oloyede; Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Prof. Temidayo Oladiji; and Dr. Sarah Omotunde Alade, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Others include the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap; Nollywood actor and legal practitioner, Femi Adebayo; Channels TV Political Editor, Seun Okinbaloye; and Thisday Newspaper Managing Director, Eniola Bello.
Also on the list are legal and academic figures such as SANs Adedeji Sarafadeen Abdulkadir, Lukman Oyebanji Fagbemi, and Oyetola Muyiwa Atoyebi; as well as Vice Chancellors of various institutions, including Prof. Jeleel Ojuade (Ojaja University), Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji (African School of Economics, Abuja), and Prof. Nazmat Surajudeen-Bakinde (University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology, The Gambia).
The ceremony will feature the presentation of an Award of Excellence to one alumnus and one non-alumnus, recognition of 10 Distinguished Alumni, and the investiture of 50 individuals and three graduating sets as UNILORIN Ambassadors. The graduating sets include the 1984 Medical Class, the 1992 Agriculture Class, and alumni of the Accounting and Finance Departments.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, will serve as the Chief Host. The keynote address will be delivered by renowned legal scholar and Professor of Practice, Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN. Prof. Olugbenga Mokuolu, Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, will also deliver a goodwill message.
