United boss under fire but refuses to scrap tactics after humiliation

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has insisted he will not abandon his preferred tactical system despite mounting criticism, following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

United endured their worst start to a league campaign in 33 years, collecting just four points from their opening four matches. The heavy loss at Old Trafford saw Erling Haaland net twice and Phil Foden add a third for City.

Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation has come under intense scrutiny, but the 40-year-old Portuguese coach remains unwavering in his philosophy.

“When I want to change my philosophy, I will change,” Amorim said after the game. “If not, you have to change the man.

“We talk about that every game we lose. I don’t believe in that system or whatever. So I play my way, and I’m going to play my way until I want to change it.”
