The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) has expressed delight in the adherence to construction procedure at the ongoing construction work of the Unity flyover in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The institution implored the engineers to put in more effort in the compliance with professional ethics of the job and quality control.
SolaceBase reports that Kwara State Chapter Chairman Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Engr. Sayi Mashood made this known in a chat with newsmen shortly after paying a visit to ongoing work at the multi-billion naira Unity Flyover in Ilorin for an on-the-spot assessment with his team.
How the flyover is expected to look like when completed.
‘’The visitation is a professional routine visit of the Institution to ensure compliance and give necessary advice and support for a quality job that would be beneficial to the people,’’ Engr. Mashood said.

The Chief Resident Engineer on Site, Engr. Abdul Hameed. A. Aduagba, took the team round the project work and appreciated the comments and advice of the institution.
According to him, ‘’the bridge work is 93% completed. The outstanding work is the parapet wall which is pre-cast concrete and 90% ready. The retaining wall on one side is completed, and the other side is 80% completed. The ramp on one side is completed, in the sub-base, asphalt was introduced with 5% cement of coarse stone base. The culvert stage of the project is 60% completed.

Aduagba said the project has reached the 65% completion stage.
The project was awarded in December 2023 to Craneburg construction company and it is worth N8.4bn with a construction period of 12 months.
The project is expected to be commissioned in November 2024.
The project Consultant (Yolas) made it clear that the contractor, Craneburg is working to specification.
