Wike Exposes PDP Rift: Says Governors Abandoned South-South Congress

Date:

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has laid down a firm condition for peace to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — the party must accept and uphold the outcome of the South-South zonal congress held in Calabar.

Speaking during his monthly media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike declared that the congress, which produced Chief Daniel Orbi as the National Vice Chairman, was legitimate and had court backing.

“Our South-South zonal congress must be upheld. There’s no doubt about that — no two words,” he asserted.

He took a swipe at the PDP leadership, pointing fingers at the Acting National Chairman who had earlier claimed that PDP governors didn’t support the congress.

“When we held the congress, the Acting National Chairman said governors weren’t in support. Where are those governors now?” Wike questioned.

He added that any attempts to undermine the process or push for a new congress would be resisted.

“If they want another round of drama, so be it. But the court permitted Congress, and it was successfully held. No one can rewrite that.”
