Yobe govt alerts residents on detonation of unexploded explosives

The Yobe state government has alerted residents to a planned detonation of unexploded ordnance by Nigerian Army Sector 2 Operation HADIN KAI headquarters in Damaturu.

This is contained in a statement from the retired Brigadier General. Dahiru Abdulsalam, special adviser to Governor Mai-Mala Buni on security matters in Damaturu on Tuesday.

Abdulsalam said the detonation of explosives would take place near the state university, Damaturu on Gujba Road and on Maiduguri Road.

“The public is hereby notified that these are controlled explosions and that they should not panic.

“People are also advised to continue with their normal activities, as there is no cause for alarm.

“Through this announcement, the press is advised to take note that this is not an adverse explosion, please,” he said.
