President Bola Tinubu has approved the renaming of the University of Abuja after former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
The institution will henceforth be known as Yakubu Gowon University, ROYAL NEWS reports.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris announced the name change shortly after the last Federal Executive Council meeting for the year 2024, chaired by President Bola Tinubu.
He explained that the decision was taken in recognition of the enormous contribution of Gowon to nation building.
