The Kwara State Government has commended the performance of Local Government Areas (LGAs) across the state, praising them for delivering impactful development projects that meet the expectations of citizens at the grassroots level.

Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, gave the commendation during a project monitoring visit to Ekiti and Oke-Ero LGAs on Tuesday.

Bata expressed satisfaction with the scope and quality of projects executed, noting that local councils have moved beyond the routine payment of salaries to implementing capital projects based on the needs of their constituents.

“I am impressed by the tremendous achievements recorded by the councils. The projects we have seen are people-driven and clearly demonstrate the councils’ commitment to improving lives across communities,” Bata said.

In Ekiti LGA, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Awelewa Olawale Gabriel, highlighted major interventions, including the construction of bridges across multiple communities, which he said were capital-intensive but essential to connectivity and economic activity. He pledged continued delivery of community-driven projects in the next phase.

Similarly, Oke-Ero LGA Chairman, Hon. James Fadipe, expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for granting councils operational autonomy. “The ability to make independent decisions has empowered us to serve our people better,” he noted.

Key projects in Ekiti LGA include the ongoing construction of a bridge and culvert along the Epe–Opin–Owa–Atun road, restoration of electricity in Obbo Aiyegunle and Etan, and new road works in Osi.

In Oke-Ero, notable projects include the construction of a health centre in Odo-Owa I, a drainage system in Odo-Owa II, installation of a 300 KVA transformer in Ilofa, and a solar-powered borehole in Idofin-Igbana.
