The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that the widespread hunger and hardship under the current APC-led administration have already done “half the job” of campaigning for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Sunday, the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary and former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said Nigerians are fed up with suffering and are only waiting for a credible alternative.
“Our job is half done with the level of hunger in the land,” Abdullahi said. “Anyone who is hungry knows they don’t want APC. Our only task now is to show Nigerians that we are the real alternative.”
He noted that the rising cost of living, fuel price hikes, and general insecurity have made life unbearable for the average Nigerian.
“A vulcanizer now needs twice the money for fuel to run his pump. Parents can barely give their children enough to eat at school. ₦5,000 today is like ₦500 before APC came. Everyone can see the damage their policies have caused.”
Abdullahi accused the ruling party of deliberately destabilizing viable opposition platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.
“They’ve scattered PDP, SDP, ANPP, LP—any party that posed a real threat. That’s why dignified politicians across party lines came together to form ADC,” he stated.
On what Nigerians should expect from the ADC, Abdullahi listed the party’s top priorities as:

Eradicating hunger:
“I’ve experienced hunger firsthand. That’s why our first goal is to make sure no Nigerian sleeps hungry.”

Drastically reducing fuel prices:
“Businesses are crumbling because profit margins can’t survive these fuel prices. We will fix that.”

Tackling insecurity:
“Places like Patigi, Ifelodun, and Babanla in Kwara are now riddled with kidnappers and bandits. I have a farm there, and I can’t visit it. This is unacceptable.”
Abdullahi emphasized that ADC is not a recycled version of old parties.
“We’re not PDP in disguise or LP in new robes. We are a coalition of realists who have seen Nigeria fall apart and are determined to rebuild it—peacefully, strategically, and boldly.”
With a blend of former PDP, SDP, NNPP, and LP members in its fold, the ADC said it is ready to return peace, prosperity, and dignity to Nigerians.
