Kaduna Archdiocese Announces Death of Msgr Emmanuel Kure

The Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna has announced the passing of Rt. Rev. Msgr Emmanuel Kure, a revered clergyman and senior priest known for his spiritual leadership and interfaith efforts across Northern Nigeria.

In an official statement issued by the Office of the Chancellor and signed by Rev. Fr. Christian Okwuyem Emmanuel, the Church confirmed that Msgr Kure died at 4:38 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Multiclinics Hospital, Kaduna, following a brief illness.“I write to notify you of the death of the Rt. Rev. Msgr Emmanuel Kure, which sad event occurred at exactly 4:38 a.m. today… after a brief illness,” the statement read.

The Archdiocese extended condolences to clergy, religious orders, and the lay faithful, acknowledging the profound loss within the Church and broader Christian community.

“The Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr Philip Gaiya, conveys his sympathies to all affected by this sad event, especially the immediate family of the late Msgr, and the entire faithful of the Archdiocese,” the notice added.

Further details regarding funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, with the Church urging continued prayers for the repose of the late cleric’s soul.

Msgr Kure, celebrated for his pastoral dedication and humility, played a critical role in interfaith peacebuilding and served the Church in several positions including parish priest, seminary formator, and pastoral administrator.

He was widely admired for his spiritual depth, simplicity, and tireless service to both Church and community.
