Reality TV star and media personality Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has expressed her intention to enter politics, citing frustration over the underdevelopment in her home state, Rivers.
Speaking on Rubbin’ Minds with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the former Big Brother Naija housemate lamented that Rivers State’s vast potential remains largely untapped compared to the visible progress in other parts of the country, notably Lagos and Abuja.
“When I look at other states like Abuja and Lagos, and I see how far they’ve come, and with the potential Rivers State has, they’re not trying to exploit it,” Tacha said. “It’s just very disappointing because there are so many youths, so many talents there—so many things that, if the government can see light into, a lot can happen.”
Tacha stressed the importance of youth participation in politics, saying real change requires engagement, not just criticism from the sidelines.
“I’m definitely going to run for office when it is time. It is something I’m working on,” she revealed. “I’ll have to make it 70% done before I can talk about it, because it does not make sense granting interviews like this, talking about the government without being involved.”
Though she did not disclose the exact position she intends to run for, Tacha indicated that plans are underway and will be revealed when her preparations are more concrete.
In addition to her political aspirations, Tacha is exploring other bold initiatives, including an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most makeup applications in 24 hours, targeting 150 participants.
The outspoken entrepreneur continues to use her platform to advocate for governance reform, youth empowerment, and creative enterprise, signaling a shift from reality TV fame to a more civic-minded path.
