The Nigerian Army has arrested 199 criminal suspects and neutralised multiple terrorists in a series of coordinated operations across the country, highlighting the military’s continued efforts to tackle insurgency, violent crime, and cyber-related offences.
A senior military source disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria that the operations, carried out in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), other security agencies, and local vigilante groups, have dealt a heavy blow to criminal networks nationwide.
In Borno State, troops of the 202 Battalion, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), ambushed and eliminated a suspected logistics courier for ISWAP/JAS terrorists in the Bama axis. Recovered items included a bicycle and mechanical parts used for enemy supplies.
In Sokoto, a drug trafficking ring near Giginya Cantonment was dismantled by the 8 Division Garrison Strike Team. The operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of narcotics, vehicles, ₦185,000, ATM cards, and mobile devices.
In Katsina State, troops of the 17 Brigade repelled an ambush targeting a police convoy in Malumfashi, recovering a police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and capturing a notorious terrorist kingpin, Muhammadu Hamisu (alias Mamiyo).
Kogi State operatives, working alongside ONSA Hybrid Forces, apprehended a suspected kidnapper with known ties to a terror leader in Yagba East LGA. In Edo, the 322 Artillery Regiment raided EMU Forest hideouts, seizing firearms, mobile phones, cash, and motorcycles.
In Abuja, troops of the 176 Guards Battalion and ONSA Quick Response Teams arrested three extremist informants at a checkpoint along the Lokoja-Abaji route.
Plateau State troops under Operation Safe Haven apprehended a wanted cattle rustler and a murder suspect in Mangu LGA.
One of the largest busts occurred in Delta State, where soldiers of the 3 Battalion raided a cybercrime training center in Warri. The operation resulted in the arrest of 183 suspected internet fraudsters and the confiscation of 274 laptops, 87 phones, and other scam-related tools.
“These operations demonstrate our unrelenting resolve to safeguard lives and restore security nationwide,” the military source stated.
