Ondo Government Declares War on Cultism

Date:

The Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating cultism and other social vices among youths across the state.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, urged parents, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to actively join the government’s efforts in curbing the menace.

Ajanaku emphasized that the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward criminal activities that threaten peace and development. He said the government is promoting the traditional Yoruba “Omoluabi” values—respect, discipline, hard work, and a strong moral code—as foundational to societal progress.

“The rise in social vices is alarming and unacceptable,” Ajanaku said. “As a people known for dignity and discipline, we must rise to defend our values. Ondo State cannot afford to be dragged into the mud of lawlessness.”

He added that a secure environment is essential for attracting development and investors, urging citizens to report crimes, uphold peace, and take collective responsibility in building a safer, economically vibrant state.
